Devotion 42 ~ Rest

Good evening,

This is super late, please forgive me for that.  I have been enjoying an evening with my little sister. :)  We sometimes get a craving for ice cream and once in awhile we actually venture out at night to get some! Lol!

As I reflect on my week, tonight I am thankful for rest.  Maybe because it was more of a tiresome week than usual.  For no reason in particular that I can think of, but I found myself more drained  and looking forward to a time of rest at the end of the work week (which is Thursday night for me).

I am truly amazed at how mothers never have an end to their busy week, but can work through their tiredness the way they do.

I believe it is strength from our amazing God, that He gives us through the Holy Spirit.  Just amazing.

Here's today's devotion:

I sometimes get caught in the whirlwind of the work week.  I find myself longing for rest, not necessarily rest as in sleep, just sweet moments with the Lord, free from the constant motion of the day's tasks.  It's a rejuvenating time for me.  My time of rest.  It is not always available to me, it is precious and rare, but tonight it is sweet to me in many ways.

I'm not sure if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, but if you do, I'm sure you value it as much as I do! :)

A time of rest allows me an opportunity to engage in what I believe gives me the most strength and less on the must-do daily tasks.  My time of rest gives me a boost to continue to do the daily tasks.  Rest to me is sitting and reading Scripture or praying or singing or playing hymns on the piano...all with a sweet calm and great peace.  I am very grateful for these moments.

I know I could still get through days without that rest, I know if my focus is Christ, all my days are sweet and I have great peace...

...Lol...Can I say "but", without seemingly disregarding what I just wrote? Lol, what about "however"?  :)

Well, I'll just write this...I enjoy being able to rest, even if only for a moment.

My prayer tonight:

Thank you Lord for giving me work, for helping me to grow through the work you have for me.  I appreciate the gifts You have given me through this season of my life.  I also thank You for the moments of rest, for a time of meditation with You.  The combination of work and rest to me are such a blessing and I am so grateful.

Good night ladies,

Chelsea :)
